In this project, 28 pairs of pantyhose – one for each day of the menstrual cycle – are filled with materials such as crepe paper , plastic easter eggs, dish scrubbies, and quilt batting — to reflect the different stages of a woman’s life and the many roles in society that women fill. The project provokes such questions as: When do women wear pantyhose, and why? What do women do while wearing them? What does the ubiquity of pantyhose in fashion and culture tell us about women, and about men?
